“This heat is too much! I need a drink; any suggestions?”
===
Staying hydrated and refreshed in the sweltering heat is a great way to manage summertime stress. Here is one of my favorite non-alcoholic mocktail recipes, good by the glass or the pitcher!
Cardinal Punch
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup cranberry juice, chilled
- 2 tablespoons orange juice, chilled
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, chilled
- 1/4 cup ginger ale, chilled
- Lemon slice, for garnish
- Orange slice, for garnish
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and pour in the cranberry, orange, and lemon juices. Fill to the top with ginger ale. Use a tall spoon to stir lightly. Garnish with the lemon and orange slices (or just pop them into the drink if you aren’t for fancy).
Another summer standby that is even simpler is chilled tomato juice. Keep single serve cans in your fridge (or insulated chill pack if you are out and about).
And before you ask: This is MLS-related. No one can enter data correctly if you are melting from the summer sun. Stay cool and keep sipping!
